Title: Human beings – wired for compassion, kindness and respect?
Time: 15 September from 10 am to 11:15 am
What to expect from the workshop
This workshop, led by Juliette Gyure, explores the science behind our innate ability to connect, support, and uplift each other. Through engaging discussions, real-life examples, and practical exercises, you’ll learn how to cultivate these qualities in yourself and foster them in your workplace and personal life.
These are some of the focus areas
Defining compassion, kindness and respect in the context of the workplace. This is part of the development of the so-called “softer” skills which are required in engaging with a variety of audiences in the course of one’s work day.
The instinct for compassion and how research is showing that the brain is, generally, wired for compassion even though that seems hard to believe sometimes.
Training for compassion and kindness – how these attributes can be developed in all of us. In our context it may mean that we can mirror kindness and compassion for others, especially children, and, through doing that, cultivate higher levels of these qualities in the communities that we serve.
The importance of self-compassion, and practices in developing that.
Unpacking what it means to show respect and cultivate respect in the context of all aspects of diversity and to be examples of that in the community.
How to have difficult conversations from a place of compassion, respect and kindness.
How to remain kind and compassionate in challenging circumstances and times.
